Amit Shah in Lucknow: 3 SP MLCs, 1 BSP MLC resign; Akhilesh Yadav terms it "political corruption" by BJP

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): As BJP chief Amit Shah arrived in Lucknow for a three-day visit, Samajwadi Party MLCs Bukkal Nawab, Yashwant Singh, Madhukar Jaitley and BSP MLC Jaiveer Singh resigned from their respective parties. Nawab, who is founder of Rashtriya Shia Samaj, cited former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and party President Akhilesh Yadav's confrontation with his father and former chief Mulayam Singh Yadav for his quitting.    "I am feeling very suffocated since last one-year. It is clear that when he (Akhilesh) is not with his own father then how can he be with the people," Nawab told newsagency ANI. He added that it doesn't feel right while writing party's name as Samajwadi Party, rather they should call it 'Samajwadi Akhaada', since it has become an arena now. Praising current UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's work he said, "Bharatiya Janata Party is doing good work and PM Modi has given a good slogan of 'Sabka sath, sabka vikas'. If they invite, then I might go with BJP. Yogi is also doing a good job in the state; at least there has not been any scam yet." He further said, "More people may resign from the party soon." Political corruption Reacting to the desertions and setback, former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav called it "political corruption." "I came to know about Bukkal Nawab's resignation. I met him recently and known him for a long time. If he's not been shifted somewhere by BJP, I will meet him. This is political corruption. But if someone wants to leave, he will leave," Yadav said.
