Amit Shah apprises RSS leadership of Modi Cabinet reshuffle: Sources

Vrindawan (Uttar Pradesh) [India] September 02 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Friday briefed top Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leadership here about the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet reshuffle, said sources.

RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, Sarkaryavah Bhaiyaji Joshi, Sah-Sarkaryawah Suresh Soni, Sah-Sarkaryawah Dr. Krishna Gopal , BJP General General Secretary Ram Lal, and other senior RSS leaders participated in the three-day coordination meeting at Keshav Dham, which started here on Friday.

The RSS reviews its affiliates' activities over the past year in the meeting, which is held twice a year in September and January. Media is generally kept away from the meeting.

Ahead of the Modi Cabinet, sources said that Amit Shah presented the government's report card before the RSS leadership.

The BJP President also reportedly apprised the RSS leadership about the Modi Cabinet reshuffle.

Amit Shah also told the RSS leadership about the country's economic progress under Modi government and briefed about the government's various schemes in this regard.

The meeting also discussed Kashmir situation where the BJP is a coalition partner in the state government led by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti.

"The meeting discussed stone pelting menace and ways to bring the people of Kashmir in the mainstream. There was no discussion on Article 35A and Article 370," said sources.

Article 35A of the Indian Constitution is an article that empowers the Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define "permanent residents" of the state and provide special rights and privileges to those permanent residents.

The Article 35 A is challenged in the Supreme Court and it would hear the related petitions after Diwali.

Article 370 of the Indian constitution is an article that grants special autonomous status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The RSS and the BJP have been historically opposed to the Article 370 and want to abolish it.

Apart from Kashmir issue, the internal security situation, Bengal and Kerala killings were also discussed in details, said sources. (ANI)
