Akbaruddin Owaisi uses offensive language for PM Modi, courts controversy

NEW DELHI: Known for his provocative speeches, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi on Monday courted a controversy when he said the Parliament and Assemblies in India pass laws against Muslims. “The laws that destroy Muslims are not made on roads, marketplaces or grounds but in Parliament and Assemblies,” the younger Owaisi said. Akbaruddin, floor leader of AIMIM in the Telangana assembly, also used offensive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech. "O people of VHP and Bajrang Dal, O Narendra Modi listen: This country is not your father's property," he said. "This country belongs to me as much as it belongs to you," he added. Calling for unity of Muslims, he said "if we come together and get united then we won't require anybody’s mercy or help". Referring to brother Asaduddin Owaisi, he said "our brother himself can win at least 50 Parliament seats in there's unity among Muslims. The controversial leader had in past spent 40 days in jail in a case registered against him for hate speech at an election rally.
