Adityanath's decision to ban pan masala should be taken in right spirit: BJP

Mumbai: Hailing newly-elected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directive to ban pan masala in the government offices, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said the decision was a positive step and should be taken in the correct perspective. "This is a very positive step taken by Yogi Adityanath where he says that the bureaucrats should not be spitting all over the place. Consumption of hazardous products like tobacco and pan parag not just litters the environment, but is also bad for health. It is very positive step and it should be taken in the right perspective," BJP leader Shaina N.C. said. "This is a very good step and we all should welcome this. The entire society would welcome this decision," he said. Adityanath, a day before, banned the use of pan masala and tobacco in the government offices in the state. This was confirmed by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who said that the Chief Minister had inspected the annexe and directed the officials to maintain cleanliness so that the change was visible in the state. “He has advised against the use of pan masala, plastic and tobacco in the government buildings and offices," Maurya told ANI.  He added that wherever there was a cleanliness issue, it had to be taken under control as soon as possible
