"It was my thumb impression that revealed my identity at Gurdaspur ‘ashram’".

New Delhi: In a past few months, much of the hype has been created over Aadhar card and the government policies related to it. However, recently, this identity card created its new 'identity' when an illiterate 14-year-old boy found his family after two years with the help of his Aadhar record. Two years ago, this 14-year-old, Lovepreet Singh from Maur, ran away from home and boarded a train to Shimla. There he first got to stay at a Dharamsala and the officials there with the child protection wing of the state government guessed his district. It is after that he was transferred to the Children Home in Gurdaspur and the authorities decided to get his Aadhar card made. Fortunately, it is was then his address was revealed which said that he belongs from Maur. Finally, the family was reunited on May 22 this year. Lovepreet reportedly said that it was his thumb impression that revealed his identity at Gurdaspur ashram. Her mother, Binder Kaur, a farm laborer, was finding his son since past two years but it is the Aadhar card which gave her son back. She said that she went mad looking for him and she cannot explain her pain. However, the cops at the police station were not of much help. Child protection officer, Ravneet Kaur said that they make sure that any inmate that comes to Children Home gets his/her Aadhaar card and Lovepreet’s home was found from there.
