8 injured in grenade attack in Shopian: Here's 5 notable terrorist attacks in J&K

Srinagar: Eight civilians including three CRPF jawans were injured when suspected militants hurled a grenade at security forces in a south Kashmir village, police said on Tuesday. The grenade exploded when a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) party was patrolling the area. The incident took place on the roadside in Bon Bazar area of Shopian district, said reports. The injured had been shifted to a hospital, said cops. The attack has come amid security forces are battling an unknown number of heavily-armed militants holed up inside Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) building of government in Pampore area of Pulwama district, which also lies in south Kashmir.   • On 18 October 2005, assassination of Ghulam Nabi Lone. Suspected Kashmiri militants killed Jammu and Kashmir's then education minister Ghulam Nabi Lone. Al Mansurin, militant group claimed responsibility for the strike. Lone, was a prominent All Party Hurriyat Conference leader. He was assassinated by unidentified gunmen during a memorial rally in Srinagar.
  • Doda massacre (2006): In Doda and Udhampur districts, on 3 May 2006, militants massacred 35 Hindus. 
  • On the morning of 12 June 2006, one person was killed and 31 were wounded when jihadis hurled three grenades on Vaishnodevi shrine-bound buses at the bus stand.
  • Kashmir Valley attacks (2014): There were four attacks on 5th December 2014 on Indian Army, police and civilians resulted in 21 deaths and several injured. The motive? To disrupt the ongoing assembly elections.
  • Uri attack (2016): Four armed terrorists entered into an Indian army camp. They lobbed grenades causing massive fire culminating in the death of nineteen military personnel.
