3 dead, 2 injured in UP road mishap

Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Jan 11 (ANI): Three labourers were crushed to death and two were critically injured after a tractor laden with bricks lost balance and fell on them in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal town on Thursday.

According to the police, the mishap occurred when the tractor was being driven hastily on Sikora Road of Gunnaur area under dense fog conditions.

"When the tractor lost balance, a layer of bricks fell on the five labourers sitting in a nearby ditch", a statement read.

Three labourers died on the spot, while the remaining two were injured. The circle officer of the town also confirmed that the mishap happened due to fog.

The locals rushed in to help the injured and a call was made to the police. Later, the police, with the help of the state's Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP), managed to remove the trailer of the tractor with the help of cranes and recovered the bodies from the rubble.

The tractor has been identified in the name of Swami Tractors. The police has called and informed the owner of the mishap. The search is on for the driver, who is on the run.

The police transported all the dead bodies and the injured to the hospital. (ANI)
