Vivo launches V5 Plus smartphone with dual-front camera

NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone brand Vivo on Monday launched its much-awaited device Vivo V5 Plus, an update to its previous flagship Vivo V5, with 20MP dual front camera. V5 Plus features a 13.87cm (5.5) FHD display, with curved edges and ultra-narrow bezels for a more comfortable touch. The device runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-core CPU and houses 4GB of RAM, and 64GB internal storage. The device is equipped with its main USP dual lenses i.e 20 MP and 8 MP cameras which, according to Vivo, offer crystal clear selfies. The smartphone also packs a rear 16MP camera. "The dual front camera creates a depth-of-field effect that keeps faces sharp while creating a beautifully blurred background which is enhanced by digital optical algorithms to generate an amazing Bokeh effect," Vivo said in a statement. Users can shoot first and then select the desired focus area, adding Bokeh effect wherever necessary. "The dual front camera in the device makes pictures and videos more immersive with a wider colour gamut. With V5Plus, we are confident that Vivo’s new offering will be a defining moment in the much in-vogue selfie phenomenon that is here to stay,” Kent Cheng, CEO, Vivo India, said. V5Plus runs on Funtouch OS 3.0 Operating System (based on Android 6.0). It comes with a 3055mAh battery and supports fast charging. The ‘Smart Screen-Split’ in V5 Plus feature allows users to multi-task without having to switch back and forth every time a message pops up. Users can chat and watch videos simultaneously on one screen. V5 Plus comes with with the custom-built AK4376 Hi-Fi audio chip which claims to provides an "unprecedented" sound quality by giving a signal-to-noise ratio experience of up to 115dB. Buyers can prebook it from January 24 and the first sale is on February 1. The smartphone will be available on all offline channels. V5Plus comes in gold colour, and is priced at Rs. 27,980.
