Within a year, Motorola has refreshed its hit Moto G with a few improvements. The new phone comes with a bigger 5-inch IPS (1280 x 720 pixels) screen. Camera too has been bumped up from 5 to 8 megapixels. The processor specs remain the same. You get a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC (System on Chip). Other features include 1GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, and 2070 mAh battery. A welcome addition is a microSD slot that supports up to 32 GB cards. Motorola has been nice enough to keep the price a grand less than the original. Undoubtedly, for Rs 13,000, the Moto G offers good value for money.
Nokia Lumia 730

This took longer than usual, but Nokia has finally rolled out the Lumia 730's successor. Dubbed 730, this handset is based on the company's Fabula design language started with the Nokia N9. The phone offers a 4.7-inch AMOLED screen with HD resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 chipset. The quad-core chip is clocked at 1.2 GHz has 1 GB RAM. It comes with 8 GB internal storage. Plus, there's a microSD card slot that supports up to 128 GB. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera for selfies. The rear camera is 6.7 megapixel snapper. Other features include dual-SIM functionality, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 2200 mAh battery. On the software front, this Windows Phone 8.1 (Denim update) device comes loaded with Office Suite, HERE maps, and MixRadio.
Asus ZenFone 5 (16 GB)

If Windows Phone is not your cup of tea, then the ZenFone 5 is your best bet. This budget handset from the popular laptop-maker Asus, packs in a crisp 5-inch IPS screen. Thanks to a 1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Atom Z2560 chipset, the ZenFone offers zippy performance. Plus, 2 GB RAM and PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU ensure good gaming experience. The 8 megaixel camera is much better than what most Android phones in this category offer. Other features, include 8 GB internal storage, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G, A-GPS, and 2110 mAh battery. Unlike Motorola and Nokia, the Taiwanese manufacturer Asus has been generous enough to offer a 2 megapixel front-facing camera as well.
The device comes with 4.2 inch, 355 ppi, 720x1280 pixel screen with 16 GB of internal storage and 2 GB of RAM. Additionally, the phone is compatible with many android apps. At the heart is 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon with Adreno 225 making playing games like Real Racing 3 possible. The BB 10 OS may not have as many features as Android, but is definitely more polished than Google's mobile platform. Pegged at Rs 44,000 on the launch day, the Z10 is now available for Rs 15,300.
