Two smugglers were trying to illegally cross the international border after which the BSF patrolling party opened fire, Ashok Kumar, Inspector of Border Security Force, Punjab Frontier said.
As a result, the Pakistani smugglers returned to their territory. However, the smugglers left the consignment of heroin they were carrying, which was recovered by the BSF, he said.
"A patrolling party of the BSF recovered 5 packets of heroin, valued at Rs 25 crore in the international market, a mobile phone and 3 sim cards," Kumar said.
Till now, over 270 kg of heroin has been seized this year from the border here, he added.
