The man is identified as Raktu Prasad from Meenpur in Muzaffarpur district.
According to a report in newspaper Times of India, an FIR was filed by the girl’s husband against Raktu Prasad who was arrested after he confessed the crime.
SHO, Meenpur Police station, Madan Kumar Singh told the reporter that Raktu has also confessed that he killed his wife two years back after she had a fight with him. Raktu’s wife’s death was a mystery till he confessed his crime now.
Police said quoting Raktu that his daughter had come home two days back with her husband. At night, he insisted on sleeping in the same room with the couple but when the couple denied he lifted the ‘dabia’ (fodder cutter) allegedly threatened Ranjit to leave his house immediately. When Ranjit left, he tried to force himself on his daughter.
When the girl tried to resist, he allegedly slashed her throat, neck, hands and abdomen. The SHO said, there were 15-20 marks of ‘dabia’ on the girl’s body.
The deceased was married to Ranjit Kumar, a shopkeeper from neighboring village and was eldest among five siblings.
