Maruti Suzuki Hikes Price Of All Models; Brezza is Rs. 20,000 Up!

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki has hiked the prices of all its models to a maximum of Rs. 20,000. Beginning from Rs. 1500, the price rise goes all the way up to Rs. 20,000. However, most of the Maruti products face a price hike of only between Rs. 1500 and Rs. 5000, while only one of the models goes for a Rs. 20,000 price hike. The price rise will take immediate effect on all Maruti showrooms and dealerships, across the whole of India. The two current bestsellers of the Maruti, the sub-4 metre compact SUV and the Baleno premium hatchback will see the highest price rise among all Maruti Suzuki models. The Vitara Brezza will have a price hike of Rs. 20,000, while the Maruti Suzuki Baleno will see a price rise of Rs. 10,000. Commenting on the price hike, the Maruti said that the decision was taken based on “segment-wise demand and strategic objectives”. However, the steep price hike of the Vitara Brezza is because the initial price of the Vitara Brezza, upon the launch of the SUV in March 2016, was the launch price and so had to be revised, says Maruti Suzuki. This is not the first time that Maruti has increased prices this year. In fact, it is the second time this year, after it raised its prices in January and the fourth, within the last 12 months. During the January price hike, the Baleno had the maximum hike of Rs. 20,000. It is speculated that the infrastructure cess levied by the Central Government, introduced in this year’s Union Budget, was the cause of the price rise, though Maruti didn’t cite the same as the cause. Taking after the Maruti, car prices in general may increase, as other manufacturers are likely to follow suit, after the No. 1. Source: vicky.in
