Mahindra launches Scorpio with Intelli-Hybrid system
New Delhi: Mahindra has launched the Scorpio with “Intelli-Hybrid” mild hybrid systems to reduce fuel consumption on their Scorpio models with mild electric assistance. Not stopping at launching a 1.99-litre mill for the SUV, in an effort to conform to the National Green Tribunal’s regulations, also introduced the Scorpio with the mild hybrid system.
The Hybrid system will offer electrical assistance to the engine while accelerating. The system also gets start-stop function which turns off the engine, when it is stationary, as in traffic signals. Besides the two functions, the battery will also get recharged with the energy produced from the engine. All these can increase the fuel efficiency by about 7 percent, says Mahindra.
Commenting on the new technology, Pravin Shah, President and Chief Executive (Automotive), Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, said, "As an organisation that places keen emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendly practices, across every process and product, we are proud to introduce mild hybrid technology on the Scorpio. By reducing fuel consumption, Intelli-Hybrid helps Scorpio owners contribute towards a cleaner and greener tomorrow.”
Except for the 1.99-litre diesel variant and the base S2 2.5-litre diesel mill variant, all the other variants get the mild-hybrid system. The base variant will continue with the Micro-Hybrid Start-Stop technology it already comes with.
Similarly, except for the automatic transmission variant, all manual trims with the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel motor will get the new hybrid technology. The “Intelli-Hybrid” mild hybrid technology will be available on all the manual transmission variants beginning from Rs. 9.28 lakh. The top-end S10-2WD variant with the Intelli-Hybrid is priced at Rs. 12.84 lakh and the top-end S10-4WD with the mild hybrid technology is priced at Rs. 14.01 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai).
