GST Effect: New Honda Two-Wheelers Prices revealed

Honda has released post-GST prices for its bikes and scooters. We get you the full picture.

Honda's website now features post-GST prices for its range of bikes and scooters. GST (Goods and Service Tax) for those not in the know is a unified tax structure that aims to bring all existing sales tax under one unified tax. Read our article on the GST impact here. Under this structure, all the two-wheelers were charged 30 per cent, which has now been reduced to 28 per cent for two-wheelers below 350cc. The new GST structure has marginally reduced ex-showroom prices for most bikes sold below 350cc.

For, Honda, the price drop range from Rs 326 (lowest) for the Activa 4G to Rs 724 (highest) for the Honda Hornet 160. There is a caveat though. While the government has reduced prices of goods and hiked the prices of services for the commodities. So, while ex-showroom prices for bikes have dropped, the on-road prices of bikes may rise owing to vehicle insurance and RTO prices which will go up. This amount when added to the ex-showroom price might see the post-GST on-road prices go up in comparison to pre-GST prices.
