BMW G 310 GS gets spied up close
New Delhi: The BMW Motorrad’s adventure motorcycle has been spotted quite often and now is the third time, the spy shots are seen. The third set of spy pics reveal the motorcycle up close with a lot of detail and its similarity to its naked sport sibling the BMW G310R.
The BMW G310GS will be the smallest capacity adventure motorcycle, which will also be manufactured in India, along with the G310R, which also has the same displacement. Sharing a similar base, both the motorcycles share many other equipment as well.
Both the G310GS and the G310R sport similar instrument clusters, which reveal the speeds, gear-engaged, kilometers, fuel levels, engine heat, time, etc. The design combines both long distance touring capabilities and off-roading capabilities.
The seating and the riding posture are both upright along with the tall suspension, as with a naked bike. However, the lean body and the simple design looks like that of an off-roader. Beside the instrument cluster, the headlight and the handlebars also look similar to the G310R. The front and the sides get half-fairing, while the moniker “GS” finds place on the fuel tank. The rear gets an extended tail with optional luggage mounts and wide off-road rear tyre.
As with the G310R, the BMW G310GS will also come powered by the same single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 313 cc engine, which will be tuned to deliver 34 bhp of power and 28 Nm of torque.
Once launched, the BMW G310GS will find the Royal Enfield Himalayan as its main competitor. With the engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the adventure motorcycle will return a fuel efficiency of 30 kmpl city mileage and 35 kmpl on highways. Designed in Germany, the motorcycle will be manufactured at the TVS’s Hosur plant in Karnataka, under the BMW-TVS Joint Venture.
